Location

Nestled along the edge of Whitemud Creek, one of Edmonton’s most prominent ecological corridors, this community is shaped by its landscape. It’s a place where you can step outside and immediately feel connected—to land, to movement, and to something larger than the city itself.

Urban Village

At its core, the community is designed as a mixed-use village where homes, small businesses, cafés, and everyday services exist side by side. This is not a subdivision; it is a community with a pulse.

Connected Living

Located in the heart of Edmonton, this is a transit-ready community that connects seamlessly through walkways, connected pathways and parks, and accessible transit.

A sanctuary in the city.

ALMA VISION

Alma is more than a neighbourhood—it’s a destination. It’s a new way of urban living in the city. Designed as an urban infill community, Alma builds on what already exists by connecting people through connected pathways, parks, green spaces, accessible transit, and the natural beauty of the ravine. At Alma, daily life happens close to home. Nature is part of your everyday experience, and everything you need is within walking distance.

Story

Reimaging U of A Farms

Formerly known as West 240, Alma stands on land with a long and layered history. For decades, the lands supported the University of Alberta Agriculture and Farming faculty, shaping the site’s legacy of learning, cultivation, and growth.

Empowerment

The name Alma derives from Latin, meaning “nourishing,” “kind,” or “life‑giving”, which reflects the land’s longstanding role in sustaining both agricultural production and knowledge generation. It forms the root of “alma mater” which is widely associated with higher learning and institutional identity.

As the land transitions into a new era and master‑planned neighbourhood, the name Alma offers a forward‑looking identity that strengthens continuity between the site’s historic purpose and its future as a cutting-edge urban infill community.
